Michelangelo is extremely frustrated by his progress and heads out to sketch the patrons of a nearby hostelry, and to drink himself silly. (Yep. I’ve been there too. Not so much the sketching of passersby but definitely the drinking part.) The innkeeper taps a giant keg of wine, and offers the first drink to Michelangelo who immediately spits it out. “The wine is sour!” he barks. The innkeeper, not believing it, insists that it’s a fresh barrel and tries it for himself. He too decides the wine is sour and vociferously declares, “If the wine is sour, throw it out!”, whereupon he dramatically smashes the barrel and allows the wine to spill out.
