Bernard Marr gives a practical riposte to see extravagant Big Data claims and like all good commentators makes the point that "Small Data" is equally important across all enterprises.
Another one I like is the commentary on real-time data. Mind you that's another term misused. Many people consider polling data every minute or even every 10 minutes as real-time. So always important to ask what they mean by real-time and why do they need it?
Data analysts are the new gods of the Information Age. A good analyst can be worth his weight in gold for a company, but I believe big data tools will start trending more toward self-service, bypassing the analyst or analytics team, and providing more tools to allow the line-of-business user to make his or her own choices.
